Insider secrets from Maine people who love to put their hands in the dirt
The Maine Garden Journal has been a non-traditional gardening book from the start, and raising capital for the project has been unconventional as well. Between February 11 and March 14, 2012, I participated in
Kickstarter, a new way to fund creative projects through the internet. It's based on the idea that a large group of people making small investments can prove to be an immense source of financial resources.
In just 31 days I raised over $10,000! Friends I haven't seen in years contributed; organizations I belong to participated; folks I knew only casually assisted; and people I've never met pledged. Some who pledged once went back and pledged again, sometimes by huge amounts. I believe their contributions were emotional as well philosophical - they wanted to help someone succeed.
The wonderful, generous people listed here are my Kickstarter backers.
They hold a special place in my heart.
Thank you!!
